unLoc | KOMBINAT
During the Zajrzyj do Huty program, unLoc brought its research and creative practice into the heart of the former Administrative Center of the Lenin Steelworks, presenting a two-day exhibition and multimedia showcase. Nearly 200 visitors explored the site, engaging with its history, architectural spaces, and the experimental projects developed by the team.
The event built directly on the work conducted during the Creative Research Lab in Kraków. There, the unLoc team and a group of artists spent an intensive week inside the building, exploring its interiors, examining architectural and social functions, and experimenting with AI-based creative methods. This process allowed the team to develop insights and concepts that were later shared with the public during the exhibition.
By opening the building to the city, unLoc demonstrated how interdisciplinary art-science research can create new ways of experiencing urban spaces. Visitors were invited to reflect on the layers of history embedded in the architecture, the social life it once hosted, and the potential for reimagining its role in the community today. The collaboration with local institutions and organizations ensured the event reached a wide audience and highlighted the capacity of creative research to spark dialogue and awareness around urban heritage.
The exhibition was supported by a number of individuals and institutions:
Dom Utopii – Małgorzata Szymczyk-Karnasiewicz
Fundacja Poza Szlakiem – Tomasz Mierzwa
Muzeum Nowej Huty – Piotr Kapusta
Ośrodek Kulturury Norwida | Artzona – Jarosław Klaś
Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt – Krakowskie Towarzystwo Opieki nad Zwierzętami.
